Services

Academic Enhancement
Encourages youth to see elevating academic performance as a lesson in pursuing excellence. The enrichment elements include: AVID Strategies, Homework Assistance, Subject Tutoring, and College Preparedness
Violence Prevention
Training in self-respect, personal responsibility, and healthy choices. The various elements are: Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Decision Making Skills, Communication Skills, and Weapons Diversion.
Leadership and Life Skills
Helps youth build core values and form positive leadership qualities. The various elements are: Character Development, Goal Setting, Independent Living Training, Personal Money Management, and Community Service.
Employment Development
Ushers youth from school to work with lessons in how to find, obtain, and maintain employment. The various elements are: Work Ethics/Workplace Behavior, Application/Interview Preparation, Job Search/Job Placement
Physical Wellness
Promotes healthy living and active lifestyles as they contribute to healthy minds and spirits, and longer life. The various elements include: Nutritional Education, Fun Physical Activities, and Nutritional Culinary Arts
Mentoring
Provides young people with the encouragement to set and achieve positive life goals. The various enrichment elements are: Group/One-on-One, Peer/Adult Support, Gender Specific, and Personal Relationship Training.
ARTS For Youth
Encourages youth to be creative and express themselves through art and popular culture. The various enrichment elements include: Painting/Graphic Arts, Sing/Rap/Spoken Word, and Dance/Step.

Parental Involvement: A vital component in the successful development of youth is parental or family support. Forward Focus encourages parental involvement and offers assistance in strengthening the parent-child relationship whenever it is necessary. In this pursuit, we have an open door policy.

Participant Registration: As a rule ALL participating youth must be registered into Forward Focus programs by a parent or guardian, and each must sign a general program agreement to illustrate their level of commitment to be involved in the positive development of the youth.

Personal Learning Plan: During registration, the youth and parent meet with a Forward Focus agent/counselor and undergo a detailed assessment to identify their individual issues. We use the results of the assessment to work with the youth and parent to create a personal learning plan designed to address the youth’s individual needs.
