In The Spotlight

Forward Focus recognizes that our success is determined by your success. So we like to acknowledge those Outstanding Youth who exemplify the ideas of our agency by taking on the responsibility of being tomorrow's leaders and living their life with Forward Focus.

Breighanne Harris, 20, has been a mentee for 4 years. She is a single teen mother of a young son who during her pregnancy questioned whether she could actually have the future she wanted. We are proud to say that after 6 months of being a single mom Breighanne is off to fulfill her lifelong dream to become a soldier in our United States Army. After which, she has plans to attend a School of Culinary Arts and become a caterer. Brianne says, “She had to realize she’s not just living for herself and she’s determined to create a better life and be a positive example for her son.” Breighanne is not just a positive example for her son, but for all teen mothers who fear an unplanned pregnancy is a roadblock to success and a better life. We shine a light on Breighanne for living her life with Forward Focus.

Youth Focus Council

The Forward Focus YFC creates a forum for mutual encounters and exchanges of views between its youth members. A group of 7–9 youth between the ages of 14–21, YFC also serves as an adhoc committee and advisors to the Forward Focus Board of Directors on youth matters. Through this council they offer suggestions and other input during the planning process of programs, fundraisers, activities, and events. We give youth the power to influence the decisions of a corporation with the understanding that, with great power comes great responsibility. As a result, with serious oversight but minimal assistance from an adult advisor, the Youth Focus Council is youth run, youth governed, and is a categorical exhibition of youth leadership in action.
